3- Don’t be afraid to fail
How can you possibly know how far your body and mind will go, if you aren’t prepared to push them to failure, to the absolute limit, to the point of exhaustion?
People think of failing as being terminal. That cannot be further from the truth. Failure is a necessary step on the road to success, so why fear it? If you insist on fearing something in this life then you should be afraid of never trying or of giving up, as he who has never failed at something has never tried anything.
Think about when you were a kid, learning to walk. You probably fell 100 times before you were confident enough on your own two feet. When you first rode your bike without stabilisers, you probably crashed a bunch of times before riding perfectly. Point is, if you were so afraid of doing all those things, then you wouldn’t be able to walk or swim or cycle etc. Arnold had no fear of falling over and passing out whilst in the gym, and that mind-set put him on a level that others only dream of achieving.
We wrote in the past about the number of failures some of the most successful people you know went though, before their big break (http://lifeandmind.weebly.com/blog/archives/04-2014/2). Fact is that you can fail at something you don’t want, so why not take the risk and fail at something you love. Society nowadays is so afraid of failure that it totally limits their capabilities. It is an EPIDEMIC that must be eradicated. If people spent half as much time on working on winning as they did on worrying about failure most would already be a champion.
Show me someone who is making 100% of their shots in practice, and I will show you someone who isn’t making Game Like shots.
