They all have two commonalities:
a) They are all highly successful in their chosen arenas
b) None of them sleep more than seven hours a night.
Whilst sleep is important for cognitive functions, memory conversion and stress levels (to name but a few) and we don’t recommend making a habit of sleeping three our four hours a night, it goes a long way to showing how these people have become successful. The folk on this list don’t wake up at 3-4 am and saunter about for a few hours; they get straight into their daily graft. They recognize that by sleeping 10-12 hours a day they might miss the opportunity to accomplish something great.
If they sleep seven hours and you sleep ten hours then regardless of how talented you may be, you will seriously struggle to outwork someone who has a three hour jump on you.
There will be occasions when you will have to get by on three or four hours of sleep (everyone on that list has) but what makes it worth it is knowing that you are sacrificing sleep dreams to achieve real dreams. At the end of the day if you wake up at 4 a.m. and have all your work finished by 12pm then you can take a nap, because you have earned it.
If it was easy everyone would be doing it.
