We live once and once only. No second chances. No reset button.
We get 70 years, 80 if we are lucky. It may sound like a long time but take a second right now to think about how quick last week went by, last month and even the last year have gone by. You say it all the time, wow was that that long ago. We must realise that we need to make the most of this very short time on earth we get, so, over the next 5 weeks we will be posting about the top 5 regrets of the dying made famous by Bronnie Ware in her book of the same name (which I highly recommend you read) to try and open your eyes to the fact that we need to make the most of life.
We begin with "I wish I had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me".
Think about how many people in your daily life that you try to impress, your boss probably being the #1 person on that list. How many times do you change what you were going to do just because someone wanted to do something different? A lot right? Why? Because we are scared of not being liked, well most of us anyway.
I wish I had the courage. Courage! We shouldn't need courage to simply live OUR lives the way we want to! It should just be done naturally without even thinking about it or thinking about what anyone else thinks. Fuck what anybody else thinks!
You want to get a tattoo but your work says it's against their policy? (This one really annoys me!)
You want to spend your money on extravagant objects but your partner says it's wasteful?
It is YOUR body! It is YOUR money! It is YOUR life! Not your employers, not your partners, no ones but your own so do what you want with it!
I don't know about you but I will not be lying on my death bed wishing I had lived a life true to myself! Will you?
Get out there. Do what you want to do not what others want you to do. Enjoy your life. It is yours and yours alone.
